The Pitt Family: Victory over Cancer and Strength in a Community [Clarksville Family Photographer]
Sometimes, a story really tugs at my heart strings... and this one got me y'all. ๐
This incredible woman (who also happens to be named Julie, so she's already obviously incredibly awesome ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ) fought stage 4 hodgkins lymphoma cancer and BEAT it! And, she's double the supermom/woman because she battled it between her own husbands deployments! Y'all may remember that my own momma is battling pancreatic cancer, so her story immediately drew me in as a sign of hope and strength. But it doesn't stop there! What's really amazing about her story though is how her neighborhood rallied behind her during both cancer and her husband's deployments to be a source of support and strength. As she told me:
"Our street we live on cooked meals, made me laugh, played with my children, mowed my grass (now Iโm full on bawling!!!).... took care of me and my family...My husbandโs company allowed him to go two weeks late to a deployment so he could take me to my 12th and final round of chemo.
I want to photograph this street and home because there are so many memories!... I just know that moving from this home/community is going to be extremely hard for me and I want to be able to look at photos that take me back and remind me how freakin blessed I am!"
So friends, that's exactly what we did. We captured memories of her family, and some of those friends who became her family, for them to cherish for years to come. I wish them nothing but the best (and continued good health!) as they move to a new duty station. And it's never goodbye with the Army right?
It's see you later. โจ๐
