A week in the life: February and March Challenge Recap [Savannah Family Photographer]
Hi friends! Long time no chat! I blame coronavirus for that one! 🤪 Since posting my last recap of January’s photos for my 52/53 week (yay leap year) photos HERE SO much has happened in both the world and for our family (which is funny, since I was writing how much happened in January too 😂). So since I’m behind with sharing my monthly recaps, I’m going to do a quick summary of what’s been going on in the Igo life!
We sold our home in Tennessee and moved to Savannah, Georgia! Casey changed out of command right before Valentines day (hallelujah! Command life is STRESSFUL for both the Soldier and the family, so I’m glad that chapter is done for now!), and we headed on the journey of moving from 540+ miles to Georgia. Which was a bit of a nut roll if I’m honest! We had a rental lined up, but it fell through (aka it was NOT going to work for us), we toyed with the idea of buying a house in downtown Savannah (and then quickly changed our minds since we knew we won’t be here super long 😭), and finally found a home that will work for the next year-ish that we’re in coastal, low-country (as they call it) Georgia!
We went on a Disney cruise to the Caribbean at the end of February with my dad! I’ve never been on a Disney cruise before, and neither Theo or Casey had ever been on any cruise! It was completely AMAZING and the best cruise I think I’ve been on! Truly, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was down right magical, and we had just had the BEST time spending the days together as a family. We’re excited to plan our next one (whenever the world is normal again)!
We then moved into our home and quickly set up shop and drove to Disney World for a week long vacay! We got annual passes for the park and are trying to make good use of being only four hours driving distance from them. We had SO much fun at our favorite place on Earth (for some of my best Disney tips from one of our trips last year, check this post out)! We actually were leaving the parks the day before they closed down everything due to coronavirus, so we’re glad we went because obviously the world shut down right after that!
Came home and…. you guessed it! Stayed home! 😂 Yay coronavirus/COVID19 shutting down everything. Due to the virus we haven’t done much else besides enjoy a lot of family time together in our house. Most of the photos you’ll see for March are from us making the best of the situation. I also have a fun video of a special “Disney at Home” day we had when we got particularly bored/stir crazy that I’ll be sharing in my next blog post!
Casey started his new job, schools closed, and my business halted due to the stay home orders, but that just meant I had PLENTY of time to practice taking photos (and videos! I’m doing a monthly video of how we’ve been spending our days during quarantine/this time of life so you’ll see one for March, April, and eventually May!). Now that the state of Georgia is opening back up, I’m getting back to biz as usual, but with a toddler still at home, so my blogs are a little less frequent since it’s hard to sometimes get work done when all he wants to do is play!
Okay friends! PHEW, what a recap right!? Now let’s get on to the weeks of Feb and Mar themes and photos shall we!?
February
Week 5: Embrace. We were in the middle of moving from Tennessee to Georgia. Our house has been packed and waiting on the truck to take it all away; but home is wherever I'm with them.
Week 6: Red. The flowers weren’t actually for Valentine’s Day which was that week, but from Casey’s change of command ceremony. They always give red flowers to the outgoing spouse (aka me).
Week 7: Monochrome. We just moved to Savannah and had to go exploring at Wormsloe Historic State Park!
Week 8: From my “kitchen” window. Except we were on a Disney Cruise all week (✨🚢🙌🏻), so I found whatever windows I could to snap this (which was super hard since he didn’t want to sit still long and there were tons of people watching my mini photo session LOL). This one was featured on their blog HERE!
March
Week 9: After Dark. We were at Disney World so yet again I dragged my “big” camera out and about while traveling! It was the flower and garden festival at Epcot too which was really neat
Week 10: Slow Shutter. I never shoot slow shutter. We were finishing up our Disney trip so I took these at our hotel! I never shoot this slow of shutter, so this was challenging for me! The slide one was featured on the blog HERE too!
Week 11: Floral. Don’t forget to slow down and enjoy the little moments. 🌸💜 We went on a little backyard adventure in a nearby park. I had a lot of faves this week! 😂 Theo holding the flowers in the first photo was featured on the blog as well HERE!
Week 12: Nature (aka our yard) 🌿🌸😍 Theo turned into a soulful Calvin Klein model I guess? He was so over photos but these are some of my favorites I’ve ever taken of him (I think I’ll do a whole separate blog on this actually HAHA).
And that’s a wrap for February and March’s weekly photos! I had so much fun with these, and can’t wait to share April and May’s next!!
Lastly, the next few blog posts will be “personal” ones about our Disney Day at home and April’s recap! You can see our Disney day at home RIGHT HERE! 🙂
I’m also going to start a series of FREE EDUCATION on how to work your camera that will be going on here too. I’ve had so many friends and past clients reach out to me saying they have a DSLR camera just sitting on a shelf with no idea how to use it. They don’t want to become professional photographers, but instead just want to take better everyday photos of their own families—so, I’ve decided I’m going to help them out! I’ll be recording some videos and writing out posts with links to other awesome free tools to help you learn to use that fancy camera of yours. It will be just the basics, and each lesson will cover something different. Did I mention, this will be FREE!? Be sure to follow along here and on social media for the low down! 🙌🏻 💙
